Inglewood is a city located in Los Angeles County, with a population of just over 100,000 residents, where 9 in 10 individuals identify as Black and/or Latinx. Known as the City of Champions and the original home of the Los Angeles Lakers, Inglewood has become an economic hub, with millions of monthly visitors and weekly sports and entertainment events.

Over the past 5 years, Inglewood Unified School District has closed (9) K-12 public schools and has been under State receivership for the past 12 years.
Despite the blossoming corporate and entertainment support, there is a huge economic gap among local residents and students. The promise of job opportunities are limited to minimum wage event and seasonal part time staffing.
